This is a great idea and we wrap it with cellophine tie it off with a ribbon. This makes it very neat for the trick or treaters. This is not the only way to decorate your hard candy but it is a great way to have fun with the kids and it is especially good to do with scouts, campfire, or young people groups at churches. The receipe is fun and easy to do.
INGREDIENTS:
3 3/4 cups white sugar 1/2 teaspoon food coloring
1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
1 cup water
1 T cherry extract, or other flavor
DIRECTIONS:
Stir together the white sugar, corn syrup and water in a saucepan while cooking and stirring over medium heat. Make sure that the sugar dissolve, then bring mixture to a boil. Drop small amount into cold water test to see if it forms hard, with brittle threads.
Remove from heat and stir in flavored extract and food coloring. Then pour into your molds let it stand until cool. It should take about 1 hour.
Remove candy and wrap in saran wrap tie ribbon round candy end. (You can use lollipop stick inserted into candy before it hardens if you prefer to make suckers.
